Intro Message Template

Template · Copy & Paste

Three concise introductory message templates to help Entrepreneurs make professional first connections with Investors on Link2Investors.

Your first message to an Investor does not need to tell your entire story.

Its purpose is to introduce yourself, briefly explain your business or investment opportunity, establish why you are reaching out, and create an opportunity for further conversation.

Before sending any template below, personalize it based on the Investor’s Profile and investment interests.

How to Personalize Your Message

Templates should be a starting point—not a substitute for personalization.

Before sending your message, identify at least one reason you selected that particular Investor.

For example:

“I noticed that your Profile identifies Healthcare Technology as an area of investment interest.”

Or:

“Your experience investing in early-stage consumer businesses is what prompted me to reach out.”

Or:

“I noticed that you are interested in opportunities located in the Southwest, and our company is headquartered in Las Vegas.”

This immediately demonstrates that you reviewed the Investor’s Profile rather than sending the same message indiscriminately.

Keep Your First Message Concise

Your introductory message should generally provide enough information for the Investor to answer:

Who is contacting me?

What does the company do?

What are they seeking?

Why did they contact me?

What do they want me to do next?

You can provide more detailed information after the Investor expresses interest.

What NOT to Put in Your First Message

Avoid overwhelming a new connection with:

  • Your entire Business Plan
  • Extremely long company histories
  • Multiple large attachments
  • Highly confidential information
  • Bank account information
  • Proprietary information that does not need to be disclosed initially
  • Unsupported financial claims
  • Guaranteed investment returns
  • Artificial pressure or deadlines

Your objective is to start the conversation, not complete the entire investment process in one message.

If the Investor Responds With Interest

Your next response might be:

Hello [Investor Name],

Thank you for your response and interest in learning more about [Company Name].

I would be happy to provide additional information about our business and investment opportunity.

I can share our [Pitch Deck/Executive Summary/Business Plan/Financial Projections or other applicable materials] and would also welcome an opportunity to schedule a conversation to answer any questions you may have.

Please let me know what additional information would be most helpful.

Thank you,

[Your Name]

If You Don’t Receive a Response

Wait approximately 5–7 days before sending a brief follow-up.

For example:

Hello [Investor Name],

I wanted to briefly follow up on my previous message regarding [Company Name].

I understand you may have a busy schedule, but I wanted to see whether our opportunity might fit your current investment interests.

If so, I would be happy to provide additional information.

Thank you,

[Your Name]

If there is still no response, you may consider one final courteous follow-up approximately 7–10 days later.

Avoid repeatedly messaging an Investor who has not responded.
